Am I required to register programs and activities involving minors?
Yes. All programs involving minors should register as soon as possible but no later than 30 days prior to the program start date.

Am I a Mandatory Reporter?
All University of Richmond employees, contractors, and volunteer staff are considered Mandated Reporters and have the individual responsibility to immediately report the actual or suspected abuse or neglect of a child.

How do I report suspected child abuse or neglect?
Call University of Richmond Police at (804) 289-8715
AND
Call Virginia Department of Social Services Child Abuse and Neglect Hotline at (800) 552-7096.
AND
File a report with the Office of Risk Management using the Suspected Child Abuse or Neglect Reporting Form

What training is required in order to operate a youth program?
All Program Directors and Program Personnel are required to take the United Educators "Protecting Children: Identifying and Reporting Sexual Misconduct" training.

Do Student Organizations need to register programs involving minors?
Yes. All all Student Organizations are required to register programs involving minors.

Who is responsible for enforcing this policy?
Compliance with this policy is required as a condition of operating a youth program at the University of Richmond. The Office of Risk Management provides support and conducts periodic reviews with respect to policy compliance.

Our program is operated virtually. Does this policy still apply?
Yes. This policy applies whether interactions are virutal or in person. Please see the Youth Program Guidelines for special considerations for virtual programs.
