Trainings by Tier
The Safety and Protection of Minors training courses highlight critical points from the University's Safety and Protection of Minors Policy.
- Tier I and Tier II Individuals - Are required to take training annually. To receive credit, an individual must receive a cumulative quiz score of 80% or greater and must email their score certificate to their Program Supervisor.
- Tier III Individuals - May be assigned the Tier III training course at the discretion of the Program Supervisor. Training is strongly encouraged.
Program Supervisors are responsible for maintaining records of training completion.

Tier I for Program Supervisors
Applicability
Tier I individuals have the primary responsibility for operating a program involving minors, and may engage in one-to-one and group setting interactions with minors without direct supervision. Tier I individuals include Program Supervisors and UR Point Persons.
Please allow 45 minutes to an hour of time to complete the training.

Tier II for Program Staff
Applicability
Tier II individuals report to a supervisor or point person and may engage in one-to-one and group setting interactions without direct supervision. Tier II individuals include full-time employees, part-time employees, hourly staff, and interns.
Please allow 35-45 minutes to complete the training.

Tier III for Program Volunteers
Applicability
Tier III individuals may not engage in one-to-one interaction with minors and may only interact with minors under the direct supervision of a Tier I or Tier II individual. Tier III are typically volunteers.
